As you read the title of this post, perhaps you are asking yourself “Have I lost touch with my true self?” Do you even know your true self?
When you came into the world, you were a loving, trusting, and curious little being. And then life happened.
How would your life change if you were able to be your true self again?
How you lost touch
It is so easy to lose touch with your true self. This process starts early in life before you know what is happening.
As a child whenever you felt a painful emotion and you did not know what to do, that emotion got stuck in your mind and body. Stuck emotions cut you off from your true emotions. For example, if your mother yelled at you for painting a masterpiece on the living room wall, you may start believing that you are not creative or artistic.
As you lose touch with your emotions, you lose touch with your true self.
When you were a small child and you didn’t have much experience with the world, you may have run into a number of situations that overwhelmed you. Here are some examples:
Your mother yelled at you for no reason.
You felt misunderstood.
You were teased or bullied.
You thought you looked stupid.
And, of course, more serious issues can leave deep emotional scars.
What happens when you lose touch?
Do you feel like you are not living up to your potential? Do you spend too much time feeling painful emotions? Do you feel like a fake?
Being out of touch with your true self leads to limiting beliefs. Here are some common limiting beliefs:
Not good enough
Worthlessness
Unlovable
Undeserving
These beliefs do not reflect your true self. These beliefs are false!
How can you get back in touch with your true self?
There are a number of ways to get back in touch with your true self. Therapy is an option, but it can take a long time and it can be expensive. Meditation requires a daily commitment and can take a long time. (Although, I think meditation is helpful for almost anyone.)
If you are interested in a method that takes less time and puts the power to change in your hands, the poetry of emotion process may be what you are looking for.
The poetry of emotion process helps you release false emotions and reclaim your true self. When you lose your true self, you lose your best qualities. These can include:
Curious
Creative
Joyful
Loving
Adventurous
And many more
As you reclaim these lost qualities, you will begin to remember your true self. You were never really lost. You just forgot how wonderful you are.

Remember you are a wonderful person who deserves a great life.
